Animation in Edmonton !

Mon Mar 23, 2009, 8:53 PM
I'm working on a classical animation program for the city on the post-secondary level. I taught this for @ 6 years with great success in Vancouver.(if you didn't know , I've been an Art teacher for 28 years) Indeed, I was the 2d program head for a couple of their private colleges. The survivours went on to do the computer animation for video games and movie companies, such as EA,Technicolour, and totally unrelated,Madame Toussaud's wax museum in London!

I come into a lot of contact with artists in my work and there has been nothing but positive responses from everyone (let's face it folks, artists can be a nit-picky,sometimes outright bitchy lot...I don't exclude myself from this either, but I'd like to think I try not to).Everyone I come into contact with agrees that the city needs this and it would be a huge boost to the city as a whole. You see it keeps the money and the training in province rather than squandering it on overpriced, underdelivering"rip off schools" such as Vancouver's Art Institutes. (I'm still wondering about something I saw that happened there...How does Su Skerl get the Art Director position on several computer games ,when she couldn't even run Photoshop at the time? Heck, she couldn't even draw..scratches head...)Anyway,the less said about Ai the better (I told the FAC all about them as well) and the more people we can keep here will find themselves benefitting of a GOOD education and the better all concerned will be. I've found some allies in some notable syndicated cartoonists and other folks, so it will soon be happening.

Write me if you'd like more info.
